Racks and Enclosures form the primary structure of an installation, and provide the "frame" to support electronic equipment, power, cooling, and cable management.Start below by clicking the type of rack enclosure that best fits your project - many with additional options that let you customize for your installation. Choosing the right equipment enclosure will deliver better results as well as saving you time and trouble.
Open frame racks, also called 2-post or 4-post racks, are widely used for cabling and patching frames, intermediate distribution points, and similar large installation purposes. Middle Atlantic offers several styles to meet project needs, including aluminum and steel 2-post models, as well as steel 4-post and cable management racks. Models are available in 10-32 and 12-24 threaded styles, and some models are provided with cage nut rail. Note that the R2 series 2-post rack and the MK Series Cable Management Rack are both Seismic Certified.
Gangable racks are designed for larger installations where more than one rack is needed. Normally, they are floor-standing and feature large openings on the sides as well as front and back, and have holes or pre-installed nuts that allow the racks to be bolted together side-to-side. (Some installers also prefer them for single-rack jobs because the open sides provide unrestricted access during installation.) Attaching the racks firmly together provides strength, stability, and allows cabling to pass between racks. Side panel sets are available to cover the sides once the installation is complete; one set of side panels will close off an entire row of ganged racks. Most floor-standing gangable racks range in capacity from 19 to 44 or 45 spaces, with the Extra Tall VMRK up to 54 spaces. Solutions are also available to close off one or more sides in the middle of a row of ganged racks for securely separating web hosting machines, for example call us for details.
Knock down racks ship ready-to-assemble, making them easier to ship, handle and store until needed. Several styles are available, including attractive wood models suitable for visible locations such as studios, light-weight but sturdy open frame models, and even a ready-to-assemble floor standing enclosure. These popular offerings include all assembly hardware and some models have options to increase their versatility, such as cooling fan kits.
Slide out racks, pioneered by Middle Atlantic Products, solve a common challenge by providing rear access to equipment and connections where a rear open aisle is not possible. They are ideal for cramped utility spaces, systems built into residential or commercial millwork and small systems in AV furniture. All styles have robust weight capacities and pull forward to provide rear access; some styles also rotate to further increase accessibility.
Middle Atlantic Products offers a wide range of equipment mounting solutions that were purpose-engineered for special installation challenges, and we call these models “Specialty Application Racks”. This section includes racks designed to roll from room to room, racks designed to fit into AV furniture, and more – even racks designed to hang from the ceiling. And every solution features the same robust construction and attention to detail that you expect from Middle Atlantic. We welcome your installation challenges – if you don’t find a solution for your installation project needs, please call us for assistance.
Stand-alone racks are designed to house all types of electronic systems in smaller installations where one rack is sufficient for the need, or for where multiple racks are used but are not standing together in a row. Racks in this section are floor standing and have solid sides for strength, security, and to control cooling airflow. For most models, a variety of options are available, including front and rear doors, solid, vented and fan tops, and caster and riser bases.
Wall racks save floor space and are ideal for smaller installations or to house system distribution points. Many wall rack styles are available to meet a wide range of project needs. Open-frame styles are great for controlled spaces such as utility rooms and some models can be mounted over conduit and similar obstructions. Enclosed models provide security to protect equipment in more open spaces from tampering, dust, and other hazards, and many styles have hinged center sections to provide enhanced rear access to equipment and wiring.
Wall racks range in capacity from 2 to 35 rack spaces, with the hybrid wall/floor mounted SR models up to 46 spaces.
