AIM Solder Sn60/Pb40 Rosin Core Solder Wire is a fully activated, general-purpose solder wire for use in applications where mildly activated fluxes are too weak. RA cored wire is strong enough for excellent tarnish and oxide removal, and will produce bright shiny solder joints. It leaves slight to moderate post-process residues that may be left on non-critical applications, but should be removed from any critical applications. RA cored wire meets Mil-Spec cleanliness requirements for post-cleaning. The IPC flux classification for this material is ROM1.
AIM Sn60/Pb40 is a high-clarity alloy that is composed of 60% tin and 40% lead. It goes through the Electropure process, which reduces suspended oxides in the solder, thus reducing drossing, improving flow, and reducing bridging during soldering. Sn60/Pb40 is a eutectic alloy with a melting point of 361F (183C). Typical applications are wave soldering and plating where, Sn60/Pb40 is primarily used as a coating for corrosion protection and as a base for soldering.
